Andy

Originally from Somerset my first skiing experience was on a school trip to Chatel. I immediately loved it and returned home to harass my parents to send me on the following years trip. At 16 my suggestion to become a ski instructor during a career interview was ignored . Luckily I discovered the local dry slope after a couple of years where I was encouraged to try a ski season in Aviemore. There I gained my first snow qualifications and also met Les and Nick in 1991. I enjoyed/ endured four seasons there and also worked part time in Courmayeur , Italy. I spent many happy years there where I met Jason , Izzy and later, Mark.

Courmayeur is also the home of my partner and with her help I gradually worked towards the qualifications needed to teach in France, which I attained in 2007. Since then I’ve worked alongside Jason and Jon in the 3 valleys before joining them at Sweet in 2014.
Summers are spent building stages for events such as Glastonbury and Leeds festivals for a Somerset based company where I’ve refined my forklift driving skills. When I’m not working I can be found tinkering in the garden or with my fleet of old cars and motorbikes. Also windsurfing in warm water when I can.

I’m equally happy cruising down blue runs stopping for coffee or launching myself down some of the most challenging skiing from the Saulire cable car(1850)
I believe it’s only possible to improve if you are enjoying skiing so that is always my aim.
