It isn’t uncommon for people who have never skied before to be a little apprehensive ahead of their first ski lesson. There is all of the unusual equipment to contend with and clumpy ski boots that seem anything but easy to walk in, the clothing makes you overheat just standing still and as everybody else elegantly slides past you it may seem as if you’re the only person who doesn’t know what they are doing.
It’s usually a great relief when you meet your ski instructor and you realise that we aren’t scary ogres, but instead friendly, caring and helpful people who want to make sure you get the most out of your ski holiday. Almost immediately things seem to get a little easier as we’ll check that you have the correct equipment, help you adjust your ski boots and start to explain the basics of skiing. We understand that everything is new to a beginner and that the activities that more experienced skiers now take fore-granted need to be explained in a clear and supportive way.
All of our ski instructors in the French ski resorts of Courchevel, Meribel and La Tania are trained to a very high standard and they know the best terrain to choose. This is very important when learning how to ski as is working at a speed that is suitable to you. Not everyone learns at the same rate and you should never feel rushed or unable to ask us any questions.
With a little practice and a lot of encouragement and support from us, you will learn how to to control your speed, how to turn and be introduced to a variety of uplift that will help you explore further afield. As each session comes to a close your instructor will recap anything new that has been introduced during the lesson and answer any further questions before suggesting the best activities and slopes to practice on ahead of any future sessions.
