The village of La Tania is based around 6 large apartment blocks that were built in the early 1990’s to house athletes and journalists during the 1992 Albertville winter Olympics. These apartment blocks now form much of the accommodation on offer although, due to its superb location between Meribel and Courchevel, it has continued to expand with many beautiful chalets been built further up the mountain.
The resort has a very friendly feel to it and the main area of the town is traffic free. The La Tania gondola departs from the centre of the village from which point you can choose to continue further up the mountain and link in with the Meribel or Courchevel lift systems or even ski down to Le Praz via a challenging black run called Jockeys. Alternatively you can return down to La Tania by skiing beautiful tree lined routes on either a green, blue or red run.
Recent investment in snow making facilities ensure you are always able to ski back to resort. There is also a learners area located in the heart of the village which is serviced by a lift called Troika which is free of charge.
Should you venture further afield and finish your skiing day on the Courchevel side of the mountain a free shuttle service can be used to return to La Tania. This shuttle runs well in to the evening and can be used to enjoy the après ski on offer in Le Praz and the Courchevel resorts of 1550,1650 and 1850. However we think that you’ll find that La Tania has plenty to offer itself.
